Shimokitazawa Coffee House

About this cafe

The signal reaches the back of the room without fading. There is no kitchen, so food means melon pan from the counter. Regulars head straight for the bench along the wall. Sockets run along the walls, so the wall seats go first.

Sockets along the walls, open late and solid WiFi.

No kitchen, so lunch meant leaving. Very loud. It stays open until 9pm, which saved me on a night before a deadline. Wall seats have the sockets.

Came in on a Wednesday to get through emails and invoices. Signal was strong even right at the back.

Visiting from Barcelona and needed somewhere to work. Hard to concentrate with the noise. Packed mid-afternoon. Very reasonable prices. Worth knowing it's open late.

Decent, with caveats. WiFi was just as fast at the back as by the door, but only melon pan to eat, so I went out for lunch. Mixed feelings overall.

Worked from here on a Thursday afternoon, and it got so loud after lunch that I gave up on calls and stuck to email for the afternoon. All the wall seats with sockets were taken by the time I arrived.

Good WiFi signal at every table I tried. Being open until 9pm makes it one of the few places I can rely on for an evening session. ¥430 for an iced latte is a bargain round here. Wall seats are the only ones with power and they were gone.
